Barton announced her plans Friday during the St. Louis County Board of Police Commissioners meeting. Barton said in a statement that it s been a privilege to serve as chief for the past year. “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for 43 wonderful years of service here at the department,” Barton said. “I wish the best to whoever follows in my footsteps and I will always wish the best for this police department.”
