Kayla Reed remains steadfast on closing the Medium Security Institution, commonly known as the Workhouse, and moving forward with criminal justice reform in St. Louis. For years, she protested to close the Workhouse and worked to convince area politicians that funds from servicing the Workhouse would be a better fit for community investment.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. The question of whether St. Louis County Executive Sam Page’s moonlighting as an anesthesiologist is a violation of the county charter appears headed for a county ethics committee investigation.
Councilman Mark Harder put a petition signed by 16 residents on Tuesday’s meeting agenda in which the citizens cite the portion of the charter, which reads: “The county executive’s entire time shall be devoted to the duties of the office.”

ST. LOUIS (AP) With new St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones moving to close one of the city s two jails, officials said Thursday that some inmates could be moved to the St. Louis County Jail.
Spokesmen for Jones and St. Louis County Executive Sam Page told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Jones discussed the idea when the two leaders met on April 14, eight days after Jones was elected mayor and six days before her inauguration.
Page s spokesman said Page is open to the idea if the county jail has the space and staff to take on the extra detainees.
