Parties squabbling over discovery in statue case

Attorneys for Lafayette and the local Daughters of Confederacy are arguing over discovery in the Mouton statue case, and LCG wants the court to order the group to pay the bills for a July hearing on the current dispute.
In a Motion filed more than a month ago, LCG attorneys say that the local Daughters of the Confederacy - the group that paid for the statute of the Civil War soldier to be erected in the 1920s - would not respond to a Request for Admission sent to them by LCG attorneys.
Charges were filed in Le Sueur County Thursday against a Faribault man for his involvement in a string of crimes at a rural Montgomery Township farm site.

Montgomery Township, Minn. (KEYC) - A Faribault man is charged in connection to an incident at a farm in Montgomery Township back on May 1.
According to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Richard Vanerp is charged with third-degree burglary, motor vehicle theft, and criminal damage to property.
Varner is currently in custody in Iowa, being held on charges related to stolen property from a business in Wisconsin. Authorities are looking into Vanerp’s potential involvement in other burglaries, vehicle thefts, and property damage incidents that also happened May 1 in the south and southeast portions of Le Sueur County, including in the cities of Elysian, Cleveland, and Le Center.
