(WIS) - Losing a loved one is already a nightmare. For some South Carolina families, that grieving process has been prolonged as they have had to wait weeks to hold a burial. That’s because of a death certificate delay, caused by the Department of Health and Environmental Control’s new system for filing death certificates. DHEC moved to Genesis Systems on January 11 because the old one used Adobe Flash, which was set to expire on Jan. 12. Since then, the system has experienced glitches, leaving some families in limbo.

(WIS) - The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the person killed in a two-vehicle collision yesterday evening. The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on US Highway 378 near the intersection of Shorty Road. Officials say a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette was turning left onto the roadway from a private driveway when his vehicle was struck by a 1996 Dodge Van traveling west on US 378. The driver of the Chevrolet Corvette, later identified as 75-year-old Michael Wayne Harrison, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

(WOLO) – The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash in Swansea on Friday. Coroner Margaret Fisher says Walter Cassidy, 53, died on the 900 block of Sharon Church Road from his injuries. According to investigators, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Cassidy overcorrected his vehicle, causing it to leave the road and overturn. Authorities say Cassidy was wearing a seat belt. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is also investigating this incident.

(WIS) - The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a collision on Interstate 26. The accident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. near mile marker 118. Officials believe the motorcyclist, 34-year-old Christopher James Prewitt, was involved in a single-vehicle incident, causing him to be ejected. He was then struck by two other vehicles. Prewitt was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained. Officials say he was not wearing a helmet.
