LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man is in custody in connection to the armed robbery of a taxi driver in the Midlands.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responded to a convenience store in the area of South Lake Drive at 11 a.m. Thursday. Deputies then set up a perimeter around the area after arriving at the scene.
A short time later, authorities arrested 19-year-old Blake Austin McGrath in connection to the incident. Investigators said McGrath pulled a gun on the cab driver and ordered the man to take him back to Myrtle Beach. The driver was able to get away and no one was hurt, according to authorities.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A Lexington man has been arrested by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department after deputies found drugs and a gun in his possession.
Officials said Donny Zimbro, 50, was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, trafficking meth, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of Schedule IV narcotics with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a pistol, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina is still early in phase 1a of its COVID-19 vaccine distribution, but some people who fall under that first category are wondering when they will be able to get the shot.
Tuesday, some
first responders in Batesburg-Leesville received their vaccinations. Several members of the Lexington County Sheriffâs Department were also able to get vaccinated Tuesday. However, other agencies, like Columbia Fire, say theyâre still waiting to be contacted by DHEC.

CAMDEN, S.C. (WIS) - It’s not immediately recognizable, but “Ace” the horse is different than his stable mates.
Ace recently arrived at Heart of the Horse Ranch in Camden with only one eye.
Over the summer, he was given up by his old owner. He had cancer in his eye.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, local veterinarians, and professional horse manager Cherry Dudney worked together to heal and rehab Ace, when the alternative was putting him down.

Deputies are teaming up with Turner Memorial AME Church to gather the donations for needy kids in Lexington County.
You can donate items like new coats, winter hats, scarves, gloves and ear muffs; you can still donate this Friday and Saturday this week.
