Vote was 5-2 to recommend wearing masks but make masks mandatory Author: WLTX Updated: 11:04 AM EDT May 11, 2021
LEXINGTON, S.C. In a 5-2 vote, the Lexington-Richland Five Board of Trustees passed a resolution Monday night strongly recommending students and teachers wear a mask while not requiring them to do so.
This new policy went into effect Tuesday, May 11.
This is the district’s latest decision. Just last week, the board passed a similar measure making face masks optional in the classroom. But the board put that policy on hold just two days later to consult with attorneys after approximately 100 district employees threatened to sue.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Lexington-Richland School District Five is partnering with the Lexington Medical Center to vaccinate its school staff. Officials say the vaccinations will take place on March 26 and April 16 at Dutch Fork High School. The district says it will assign staff times to get the vaccine.
Officials say staff members should complete the CDC’s vaccine administration management system registration, but they do not need to schedule appointments for those days.
