The Lexington-Richland School District Five Board of Trustees said late Thursday they d been advised by their attorney that there needed to be a review of their decision made this week to end the mask rules.
The end of the mandatory face mask policy was to been on Friday, May 7, with the first day of optional masks on Monday, May 10. However, now the district says that s on hold until they get a further briefing from the attorney at the board s next meeting, which is also set for Monday.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - After a long, controversial battle with Lexington County parents against masks in the classroom, the Lexington Richland School District Five voted to make masks optional.
Teachers and officials with the Department of Health and Environmental Control expressed their disappointment with the school board’s decision.
The school board voted 4 to 2 to lift the mask mandate in District Five.
Teachers are hurt over this because they feel their safety is compromised.

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WIS) - Legal counsel for Lexington Richland School District Five has advised the district to follow the South Carolina Department of Educationâs face covering guidelines, despite the district repealing its own mask mandate.
After a
4 to 2 vote by the school board earlier this week lifting the districtâs mask requirement, the attorney needs to âdiscuss the matter furtherâ with board members at a meeting May 10, according to a letter sent to parents.
