There are some individuals who become such pillars in their community that their legacy continues to be felt directly or indirectly to the current day. John Sherman Bashore was one such person.
After finding his calling as a clothier in Lebanon, Bashore became one of the best-known and most respected civic leaders in his time, through his contributions to local organizations and groups. His donation of 250 acres of land to local scouts in 1947 is still used today as the Bashore Scout Reservation near Fort Indiantown Gap.

TOWAMENCIN There was no hesitation from Jordan Zimmerman when she caught the ball behind the arc as time wound down in the third quarter.
The Souderton senior had only made one shot in the game to that point but instead of worrying about past misses, she was focused on making this next one. Her shot was on the mark, tying a game the Indians had trailed almost from the start and a few minutes later, Zimmerman made the assist on the go-ahead layup.
Strong defense and a resilient mentality across the board helped Souderton rally and top North Penn 49-41 on the road Tuesday, spoiling the Knights’ season opener.

With President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration fast approaching, it must be noted that Biden wasn’t always the smooth talker he is today.
Biden grew up in an era when stuttering was frowned upon and stigmatized. Individuals were encouraged to avoid stuttering any which way they could, even if it meant choosing completely different words to speak. What’s more, speech therapy services were not easily accessible when he was a child. But we’ve come a long way since then.
