Man arrested for attempted murder of girlfriend May. 10, 2021 at 9:45 am On May 9, at approximately 8:44 p.m., Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) Officers responded to a call of an Attempt Murder, involving a knife, in the 1900 block of Cloverfield Blvd.  The victim reported that her boyfriend, identified as Jeremy Gonzalez a 29-year-old Hispanic male, attempted to stab her with a large knife. Gonzalez was reported to have fled the area on foot prior to police arrival. Officers located Gonzalez in a vehicle in the 2200 Block of Virginia Ave. On contact, Gonzalez fled on foot. A perimeter was established, and a K-9 search was conducted with the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Air Unit. Gonzalez was located and taken into custody a short time after.

Loaded Gun & Narcotics Arrest On May 4, 2021 at approximately 11:45 am, Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) Officers accompanied by a Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Clinician responded to the 1400 block of 16th Street for a call of an individual trespassing in the carport. The reporting party requested that officers assist with removing an individual not permitted to be on the property.  Upon arrival, officers contacted the subject, later identified as Javier Alvarez, a 38-year-old male from East Los Angeles. During a search of Mr. Alvarez’s belongings, officers located an unregistered and unmarked loaded handgun along with approximately 97 grams methamphetamine. 

Assault with a Deadly Weapon - Firearm - Santa Monica Daily Press

On May 2, 2021 at about 1:13 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Bay Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call involving a firearm.  When officers arrived on scene, they met with the victims who were standing outside of a liquor store. Officers were informed that an individual, who was accompanied by four other males, approached and attempted to engage them about their vehicle. The victims refused the subject’s advance and asked to be left alone. After a short argument, the male subject went to a black BMW with Texas plates parked nearby and retrieved a handgun. He returned to the victims and pointed the handgun directly at them. The suspect then joined up with his friends and fled in a separate vehicle.

CRIME WATCH Email address: Don t worry we don t spam ON Thursday, April 8 at approximately 7 p.m. SMPD officers seized over two pounds of marijuana, a 9mm handgun and a high-capacity 9mm magazine loaded with 16 rounds from a suspect with a prior conviction for 1st degree manslaughter. A second suspect was also booked on narcotics sales charges. While on patrol, SMPD officers observed what appeared to be a hand-to-hand purchase of marijuana near Ocean Avenue and Colorado Blvd. During a traffic stop related to this narcotics violation, officers discovered a large quantity of marijuana, an unregistered firearm, and a loaded magazine in the rear of the vehicle.

File photo On March 10 at approximately 2:05 a.m. The Santa Monica Police Department responded to a call regarding a potential Grand Theft in progress. Dispatch relayed information regarding two individuals spotted underneath a parked truck near 23rd and Arizona Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a white vehicle fleeing the location. Officers conducted a traffic stop of the white vehicle with three occupants inside. A Sawzall with additional cutting blades, pliers, a vehicle jack and a catalytic converter were located inside the car. In addition to the items found within the vehicle, another cut catalytic converter was located under the truck where the vehicle occupants were originally spotted.
