LeBron James opening job training and financial literacy center in Ohio

LeBron James, a perennial NBA superstar and social activist, is adding to his impressive philanthropic portfolio with the opening of a job training and financial center in his Akron, Ohio, hometown.
Despite James‘ worldly exploits, he has remained fiercely loyal to Akron, a 40-mile drive south of where he entered the NBA as a teen prodigy for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The LeBron James Family Foundation announced he is opening a 60,000-square-foot venue called House Three Thirty, which will provide financial literacy advice, job training and recreational activities for area youth,

The LeBron James Family Foundation plans to make The Tangier a community hub known as House Three-Thirty, adding to other facilities it owns around The I PROMISE School.
The LeBron James Family Foundation announced on Tuesday that it has purchased Akron s Tangier restaurant.
The organization will turn the restaurant into a facility called House Three Thirty, a multi-use space for I PROMISE families as well as other members of the Akron community. House Three Thirty will include a sports complex on the top deck of the restaurant sponsored by DICK S Sporting goods as well as a newly renovated indoor facility. An Old El Paso restaurant, coffee bar, retail space, ice cream parlor and even a Chase Bank will also be part of the facility.

LeBron James is giving back to the community that helped him get to where he is today. This morning, the three-time NBA Champion announced that he would be opening House Three Thirty in Akron, Ohio. The venue will be used to offer resources such as job training, community gathering spaces and financial health services. Our main goal in everything we do is to support and prepare our families for a better future, James said. And this concept, House Three Thirty, is the next step of that journey. I’m excited to open a space that puts everything we want to offer them under one roof. From getting them hands-on job training and financial guidance to having a space for important community events and safe physical activities, this is what we’ve learned our community needs. I can’t wait to see this come to life.

AKRON, Ohio – The LeBron James Family Foundation announced Tuesday it has purchased The Tangier, an iconic 60,000-square-foot restaurant and entertainment venue in Akron’s West Hill neighborhood, with plans to turn it into a multi-use facility for the community and students at the nearby I Promise School.
