LOWVILLE â Drunk driving was alleged to be the cause of a Boonville man losing control of his vehicle and smashing into a tree Sunday afternoon.
Justin L. Wheeler, 23, was charged with misdemeanor first offense driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content, or BAC, of more than 0.08% as a first offense by the Lewis County Sheriffâs Office.
According to the sheriffâs office, while driving a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Fish Creek Road in the town of Lewis at about 4:45 p.m., Mr. Wheeler lost control of the vehicle going around a curve, exited the road and hit a âsmallâ tree.

LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. - A defiant restaurant in Chehalis will face off with the state once again in the battle for indoor dining.
A new hearing between Spiffy’s Restaurant and Washington State Department of Labor and Industries is now on the agenda for 2021. The attorney for Spiffy’s requested the postponement, which a judge granted during a Webex virtual hearing, Tuesday.
LOWVILLE â An Onondaga County man died in the first fatal snowmobile crash of the season in Lewis County on Tuesday evening.
Jason Norfolk, 32, of Jordan, Onondaga County, was riding a 2021 MXZ TNT 600 snow machine on the North Road â trail C4F â in the town of West Turin at about 7:44 p.m. with two other sleds. He was the first in line on the trail when he lost control in a left-hand curve and âexited the trail and struck a tree,â according to the Lewis County Sheriffâs Office.
Mr. Norfolk was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriffâs office was assisted by state police, Constableville Ambulance, Lewis County Search and Rescue and Sullivanâs Towing.
UPDATE: The travel advisory for the county has been rescinded as of 8:45 a.m. on Thursday.

The advisory takes effect at 8:45 a.m. Monday, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Caution is advised as hazardous driving conditions could be encountered due to blowing snow and snow covered roads, according to Sheriff Michael P. Carpinelli.
