Lakeland Dairies corporate office in Cavan town. \ Thomas Hubert Niall Matthews from Co Louth has been appointed as the new chair of Lakeland Dairies Co-op, having served as a board member since 2017. He expressed his appreciation for the contribution of outgoing chair Alo Duffy and vice-chair Colin Kelso. Niall Matthews said: “I am very honoured to be appointed chairman of Lakeland Dairies and on behalf of the board and members of the co-operative, I warmly acknowledge and express our appreciation for the ongoing contribution of both Alo Duffy and Colin Kelso to the growth and development of our society over many years and wish each of them continuing success in their dairying enterprises. “Working with the vice-chairman, board members, CEO and management of the co-operative, I look forward to the continuing strong progress of Lakeland Dairies.”

ICOS transfers €190,000 to Irish Red Cross in Yemen appeal

SHARING OPTIONS: Mike Magan launched an appeal for dairy farmers to donate money to the Irish Red Cross for communities in war- and famine-afflicted Yemen. ICOS has transferred €190,000 to the Irish Red Cross following an appeal from Longford dairy farmer Mike Magan which saw dairy farmers donate to a fund to aid the people of Yemen. The results of that grassroots campaign were realised on Friday as the leaders of co-operatives from all over Ireland joined ICOS president Jerry Long and Mike Magan in an online ceremony to transfer €190,000 to the Irish Red Cross, represented by Frank Phelan. Magan supplies milk to Lakeland Dairies and the farmer-owned co-operative strongly backed his initiative.

Irish dairy cooperatives and their farm families throughout Ireland answered a call from Co. Longford dairy farmer Mike Magan to help raise funds for the people of Yemen who are afflicted by war and famine. The results of that grass roots campaign were realised on Friday as the leaders of cooperatives from all over Ireland joined Irish Cooperative Organisation Society (ICOS) president Jerry Long and Mike Magan in an online ceremony to transfer €190,000 to the Irish Red Cross, represented by secretary general Trevor Holmes. Magan supplies milk to Lakeland Dairies and the farmer-owned co-op “strongly backed his initiative” ICOS said.
