The units were acquired through Production/Co, the Chestnut Mountain, GA-based AV systems integrator, which also installed the system earlier this year, readying it for when the church resumed live capacity-limited and socially distanced services last June. Together, the KLANG:fabrik units provide a total of 32 inputs and 12 individual immersive IEM mixes for the church’s band members, connected through Lakewood’s existing DiGiCo SD9 FOH console.

Lakewood Baptist, Free Chapel cancel in-person Christmas Eve services Lakewood Baptist Church and Free Chapel will not hold in-person Christmas Eve services.  Joy Willis, Lakewood Baptist Church s marketing director, told The Times on Monday that the 10 p.m. in-person function planned for Thursday, Dec. 24, has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. Instead, the church will stream a virtual service at 4 p.m. Thursday. People can tune in through Lakewood Baptist’s Facebook page, YouTube channel or website. Free Chapel also announced Monday that it would move its in-person East Coast Christmas Eve services online, after Senior Pastor Jentezen Franklin tested positive for COVID-19. People can view the virtual experience at 5 p.m. Thursday, at freechapel.org.

Smiley installed as pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church

Dr. Tyler H. Smiley was installed as the seventh pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 13. Smiley has served in leadership roles at Lakewood since 2013, when he was named the church’s Associate Missions Pastor. In 2019, he was promoted to Senior Associate Pastor. In addition to his ministerial work at Lakewood, Smiley served at Journey Church in Centennial, Colorado and Logos Central Chapel Church in Denver, Colorado. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary as well as a Master of Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

2020 Christmas church services in Hall County

First Baptist Church of Gainesville First Baptist recently announced it won’t hold in-person Sunday services for the rest of this year. However, the congregation will worship face-to-face this Christmas Eve. An in-person Christmas Eve service will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, on the front lawn of the church. People are encouraged to bring a chair, a mask and social distance when attending.  First Baptist of Gainesville’s “Living Christmas Tree” tradition was canceled because of the pandemic. Instead, the church posted last year’s performance on its website for people to view. The “Christmas is Here” concert will be available to watch online Sunday, Dec. 20.
