Lenawee Intermediate School District officials decided early last week to continue to require the use of face masks inside buildings and buses, even for people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Later in the week, state health officials recommended that schools continue to require face masks be worn inside schools.
Other county school districts either made announcements that they would keep their mask requirements or made no announcement, leaving their current COVID-19 preparedness plans in place. Blissfield and the LISD are allowing students to remove their masks while outdoors if they can maintain 6 feet of distance from others.

Schools in Lenawee County should see much less need to quarantine large numbers of students who are close contacts of people with COVID-19 after a new public health order was issued Tuesday.
Students will now only have to quarantine for 10 days if they live in the same household as someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or if they are a close contact of a case identified in an “outbreak” at their school. This new policy was developed by officials from the Lenawee County Health Department and all of the county superintendents. They met Monday to review the mandatory quarantine of students, and the health department issued the new order Tuesday.

Lenawee Community Foundation
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be unsafe, the Lenawee Community Foundation needed to make the difficult decision to cancel its 2021 annual meeting.
Typically, the annual meeting brings together local individuals, organizations and businesses while recognizing award recipients and the work of donors, volunteers and community partners. Although disappointed that the special gathering could not happen again this year, we look forward to spring 2022 and that there is still much to celebrate.
