ADRIAN Police continue to investigate a shooting Sunday night that left bullet holes in a vehicle and possibly in a store wall.
No one was injured in the incident outside Rony s Market, 117 N. McKenzie St. in Adrian, police said. In an email, Adrian Police Chief Vince Emrick said the shots were fired at about 10:40 p.m. He said it was determined that a dark-colored minivan or SUV pulled into the parking lot, then pulled out just a few seconds later onto McKenzie. A witness stated a passenger leaned out the window of the vehicle and over the hood and proceeded to fire six shots.

FAIRFIELD TWP. The simmering conflict between former members of the Fairfield Township Fire Department and the township board continued Monday in the board’s first meeting since most of the department’s members resigned in protest in February.
Expecting a large turnout and unseasonably warm weather, the board decided to hold its meeting outside, in the driveway of the department’s fire hall
The nearly 40 attendees were a mix of residents concerned with the current state of the department, a few who supported the board and a large contingent of department members who resigned, their family and supporters.
Search resumes for Hudson man who went through the ice Friday

MEDINA TOWNSHIP Emergency personnel resumed efforts to find a 22-year-old Hudson man who fell through the ice Friday on Durfee Lake in Lenawee County’s Medina Township.
Lenawee County Sheriff Troy Bevier was on scene Saturday morning overseeing efforts by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team with assistance from the Michigan State Police Marine Patrol Division and the Hudson Fire Department.
First responders were first alerted to the incident around 7 p.m. Friday and arrived on scene to find that three people with the man had self-extricated after falling through.
Divers recover body of Hudson man from Durfee Lake

MEDINA TOWNSHIP At 10:42 a.m. Saturday, divers recovered the body of a Hudson man who fell through the ice Friday night on Durfee Lake in Medina Township.
A news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 22-year-old Damion Moog.
Moog and three friends walked out onto the ice on Durfee Lake Friday night to check if it was safe for ice fishing Saturday.
“As they walked across the ice, all four subjects fell through a thin area of the ice,” the release stated. “Three of the subjects were able to get out of the water.”
Adrian man sent to prison for assault, property, sex crimes

ADRIAN An Adrian man who admitted to several crimes and did not contest a criminal sexual conduct charge will spend at least six years in prison.
James Markus Emerson’s attorney told Lenawee County Circuit Judge Anna Marie Anzalone that Emerson’s drug addiction was at the root of his behavior.
“He had a stretch there where … he was heavily using drugs and committed many crimes, clearly, but he has taken responsibility for his actions and entered a plea in this case, full well knowing he’s going to be on the sex offender registry, that he’s going to go to prison,” special public defender Brian Frey said. “The drug addiction is something that is very hard for people to deal with, and Mr. Emerson has had a long history with drugs and a severe addiction that, frankly, some of this he pled no contest to because he couldn’t actually remember, but he did want to take responsibilit
