When the first COVID-19 vaccination clinics opened in the Lehigh Valley, public health officials knew that some of those signing up for shots would come from outside the region.
The vaccines are federally funded so the clinics can’t turn away people who don’t meet a residency requirement. But the buzz around how efficient the Lehigh Valley has been at administering vaccines has been stronger than perhaps anyone anticipated.
Large numbers of eligible vaccine recipients at Lehigh Valley clinics have travelled to get their shots, directors from the Allentown and Bethlehem health bureaus said during a virtual forum this week.

A two-building, four-story apartment complex is coming to Easton’s Delaware River waterfront.
The complex will consist of two mid-rise buildings separated by a parking garage. Each 21,700-square-foot building will have 75 homes divided between studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.
The development is between Mulligan’s Gov. Wolf Building apartments on North Second Street and Larry Holmes Drive. The garage will have 275 parking spaces with 50 of those reserved for Gov. Wolf tenants.
