President Weah Sets Up Auditor General Vetting Committee

(Monrovia, Liberia):The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, has set up an Ad-hoc Committee to identify and recommend top candidates for the post of Auditor General of the Republic of Liberia. Cllr. Archibald F. Bernard, Jr., was named as chair of the committee which comprises heads of integrity institutions in the country. As part of the vetting process, the committee will identify, scrutinize and recommend three candidates to the President for subsequent appointment. President Weah’s decision is in keeping with Section 2.1.1 of the GAC Act of 2014 on the selection and appointment of Auditor General.

MONROVIA – A three-day Council meeting organized by the Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA) and the Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa (ABWA) aimed at advancing the accounting profession in the sub-region has ended in Margibi County, with a call on accountants to carry on their assigned tasks and responsibilities in the interest of the public and attract investment opportunities in their respective countries.
Liberiaâs CAG and other senior officials of government including Comptrollers and Accountants at the 2-day workshop on Awareness and Orientation on the newly created CAG Department, held in Buchanan.
A two-day workshop to ensure that comptrollers and accountants of government of various line ministries and agencies have adequate understanding about the newly created Comptroller and Accountant General (CAG) Department at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), and in continuation of the reform exercise, was recently held in the Port City of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
The workshop, organized by the CAG Department, was held from December 18-19, 2020, under the theme: âAwareness and Orientation on the newly created Comptroller and Accountant General Department and the ongoing transition process.â
