EDMOND, Oklahoma -
Logan County deputies arrested Jerry Maguffee, 90, and Kevin Maguffee, 62, at their north Edmond home on Wednesday for a kidnapping charge.
Prosecutors charged the pair, who are father and son, with kidnapping on Tuesday for allegedly restraining a female relative who has dementia.
“In this investigation, we had found that the victim was tied with her feet and hands with duct tape,” Logan County Undersheriff Troy Dykes said. “And our top priority was to work together with the (Oklahoma) Department of Human Services and our deputies to make sure the victim was safe.”
On May 2, deputies checked on the female relative after a doctor’s office called 911 to say she was restrained. According to the arrest warrant, Jerry had told the doctor’s office they had duct taped her arms and legs.

The Logan County Sheriff Jason Massey says he has seen good people go down a dark path after struggling with substance abuse, so working with guidance centers, the department is trying to offer more services to community members struggling with opioid addiction.
“A lot of those folks are people who were hurt, they went to the doctor had injuries, they start taking it, they get addicted to it, and a lot of times it’s very hard to get off of it,” says Massey.
COVID-19 vaccinations will be offered to inmates at the Logan County Detention Center Friday, May 14.
According to jailer Phil Gregory, 56 inmates have signed up to receive the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccination. Most of the staff, said Gregory, are already vaccinated. The Barren River District Health Department will be administering the vaccinations inside the jail.
During Tuesdayâs fiscal court meeting, Third District Magistrate Barry Joe Wright asked Gregory if more inmates were vaccinated, did that mean more could go out on work detail?
That decision, answered Gregory, will be up to the Department of Corrections.
âWe are doing all we can do,â Gregory said. âI think things are improving. The more people that get the vaccine, the quicker things can improve.â
