CITY AND STATE: Logan, West Virginia
TELL US ABOUT THE NURSE: My niece Mitzi Browning Williams is the only child of Herbert and Hazel Browning of Blair, West Virginia. She kept herself busy each day. She lined up her stuffed animals and taught them everything she learned in school that day.
Spruce Grade was a great school, and Sharples High was next door. There were about 300 students from the seventh grade to the 12th.
Mitzi was always at the top of her class and was a cheerleader in grade and high school.
After graduating from Sharples High, she moved to Logan. She decided to go to Southern Community College in Mud Fork and began studying for her two-year degree in RN nursing.

LOGAN â Police in Logan charged a woman with possession after she was found with a substance that tested positive for fentanyl.
City patrolman M.S. Hall writes in a criminal complaint filed in Logan County Magistrate Court that he responded to the parking lot of Loweâs at the Fountain Place Mall on March 31 over a suspicious woman who was looking inside vehicles.
When he arrived, Hall made contact with the accused, Amber Nicole Means, 28, of Logan, standing on the lumber side of the parking lot.
Hall writes that he observed Means to have âglossy bloodshot eyesâ and that she could not complete a full sentence that made sense.
LOGAN â Several family members and friends of Teddy Nelson gathered on Midelburg Island near Logan High School Sunday afternoon to celebrate his life, one year after his untimely death from complications of the coronavirus.
Nelson was 25 years old when he died on April 11, 2020. He was Logan Countyâs first virus casualty and only the sixth or seventh statewide at the time, depending on conflicting reports.
Nelson battled the coronavirus for nearly two weeks, spending his final days in isolation on a ventilator at Logan Regional Medical Center. He made his last post on Facebook on March 28, 2020, in which he asked for prayers and said, âI just want to feel better.â
