After Guwahati & Imphal, Agartala Airport will be Northeast s 3rd International Airport by 2021
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had earlier discussed the up-gradation of the Agartala Airport with the Civil Aviation Minister in New Delhi.

AAI Officials, Agartala: Agartala s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport is set to become the third international airport in the north-eastern region after Guwahati & Imphal. Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials stated that Rs. 438 crores was invested in this project and is said to be completed by March 2021.
Following the completion of the project flights between Agartala and Dhaka, as well as other Bangladeshi cities like Chittagong and Sylhet, will be operated. The airport in Agartala is the second busiest in the northeast after Guwahati s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. The Imphal airport was declared as an international one two years ago.

After Guwahati and Imphal, Agartala s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport is set to become the third international airport in the north-eastern region, after a Rs 438 crore project under construction is completed in March 2021, Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials said on Monday.
Construction work on the new integrated terminal building of MBB Airport has been completed and now the interior work is going on. By March 31, all the work would be completed, an AAI official added. Through the MBB Airport, the government is keen to begin air connectivity with Bangladesh and other neighbouring countries, a senior AAI official told IANS preferring anonymity.

GUWAHATI: The cost of Haj (pilgrimage to Mecca) from Assam and the other north-eastern States will be the highest in the country from 2021.
According to the recent circular issued by the Haj Committee of India,the approximate cost of Haj from Guwahati (as the embarkation point) will be Rs 3,99,273.40. Before the Centre lifted the Haj subsidy, the pilgrimage cost was between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.10 lakh.
