Lodi teachers reject tentative agreement from district [Lodi News-Sentinel, Calif.]
Jan. 13 The Lodi Education Association announced on Monday that it has rejected the latest tentative agreement proposed by Lodi Unified School District, citing a lack of transparency from officials and a misuse of cost of living adjustment funds.
The tentative agreement was proposed Dec. 12, and LEA president Michelle Orgon said that the union voted to reject it last Friday.
“The (agreement) was defeated because our members believe that LUSD is not using state allocated funds in the best interest of students,” Orgon said in a media statement released Monday.
“I want to be clear we want to be back in the same room with our students, but just wanting is not enough to make it safe,” she said. “We need to see action from LUSD to implement a robust testing and tracing program, along with safety protocols in every classroom, not just a select few.”

Lodi Unified School District had 2,429 11th grade students during 2018-2019 school year, according to the California Department of Education. Los Angeles Unified School District had the highest number of 11th grade students enrolled in California with 42,012.
According to numbers provided by the National Center for Education Services, California is expected to see a decrease of three percent in public elementary and secondary school enrollment from 2017-2029. The state expected to see the largest drop in enrollment is New Mexico with a projected 12 percent decrease, while Washington D.C. is projected to see a 14 percent increase over the same time period.
Lodi Unified School District had 2,385 10th grade students during 2018-2019 school year, according to the California Department of Education. Los Angeles Unified School District had the highest number of 10th grade students enrolled in California with 46,546.
