The Mid Wales libraries in Llanfair Caereinion, Talgarth and Llanwrtyd Wells will be run by volunteers, with input from Powys County Council.
The council says volunteer groups will form the friendly face of the three smallest libraries in Powys, when they are able to safely reopen.
They will be supported by councillors, town and community councils, and other community organisations.
In September, Powys County Council’s cabinet agreed its library service would support community partnership libraries for a period of five years, to give them the stability to become established and also develop.

Volunteer groups will operate the libraries – the three smallest in Powys – when they are able to safely re-open the buildings under Welsh Government guidance. In September 2020, Powys County Council’s cabinet agreed that the council’s library service will support community partnership libraries for five years, to help them become established. The council’s library service will provide the books and ICT resources, and library members should see very little change; they will still be able to use all of the library services and resources, including requesting books on the online catalogue.

Conwy County Borough Council will commission the repairs necessary for the conveniences to be reopened ahead of Easter. Clwyd West MS, Darren Millar said the closure has been a "huge inconvenience" to visitors to the area. He met with Greg Robbins, Conwy County Borough Council Cabinet Member for the Environment, Llanfair TH county councillor Ifor Lloyd and local authority officers on Friday to discuss its reopening.

But during the first lockdown, one medic was stopped by police in Powys having driven all the way from London – to buy some lamb. He was turned around and sent home.

It was the first time most had been introduced to our new county advisor, Gwawr Parry. Before joining NFU Cymru she worked for Genus breeding in Ruthin and HCC in Aberystwyth. We are lucky that she lives locally, on a farm near Llanfair. Current issues discussed included Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZs), the current animal welfare in transport consultation, the white paper setting out the new Wales Agriculture Bill and flooding in the Severn Valley. As regards to the all-Wales NVZ, it is imperative that farmers contact their Senedd Members, including those on the regional lists before March 3. Please visit the NFU Cymru website for more information or contact your local NFU Cymru office if you need assistance in sending a letter.
