LANSING When COVID-19 forced schools into remote learning programs last year, Cassie Davis had a choice to make: Enroll her 5-year-old son in virtual kindergarten, or hold him out and cobble together an education at home.
Fearing remote school wouldn’t work for her son, who learns best through physical activity, she opted for the latter.
“He isn’t the type of child who will sit and watch TV for very long he’s always moving, building with Legos, drawing pictures, playing,” Davis said. “He is also fairly strong-willed. I know that I could tell him to stay on task and watch the screen, but at the end of the day, if a child can’t focus that long, they simply cannot do it.”
