Ferrero said on Tuesday that a subsidiary has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Burton s from owners, the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board, for an undisclosed sum.
Italian confectionery and biscuit manufacturer Ferrero is amplifying its ownership of the sweet biscuit market with the acquisition of the Wagon Wheels and Jammie Dodger maker.
As part of the deal the Italian confectionery giant’s company will take over production facilities in Blackpool, Dorset, Edinburgh, Livingston, Llantarnam and the Isle of Arran

Italian confectionery giant Ferrero has snapped up the maker of Jammie Dodgers and Wagon Wheels, taking a larger bite of the biscuit market after Britons stocked up on tea-time classics during the pandemic.
Ferrero said it would buy Burton s Biscuits from the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan, taking over what is one of Britain s best-known biscuit brands and a company that has had a foothold in the market since 1935. It will own the business through an affiliate called CTH.
