Photo: S DILIP ROY BGB men led by a camp commander allegedly assaulted a reporter in Lalmonirhat Thursday night and accused him of possessing illegal drugs in a case filed with Sadar Police Station. Jahangir Alam Shahin, who works for Janatkantha and BSS, is being treated at Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital with injuries that according to him are from the torture at Kulaghat BGB Camp.

Bangladeshi man shot dead by BSF at Lalmonirhat border District Correspondent | banglanews24.com The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Azad, 32, son of Joynul Abedin from Srirampur union.  Humayun Kabir, brother-in-law of the deceased, has filed a murder case with Patgram police station accusing unidentified individuals. Sumon Kumar Mohant, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patgram police station, confirmed the matter to Banglanews. According to local sources, Abul Kalam with four to five others went to fetch cows from Indian cattle traders near sub pillar 6-7 of main pillar 848 at Jhalangi border on early Friday.  A patrol team of Indian Kochbihar 140 BSF Battalion shot at the cattle rustlers, leaving Abul Kalam with critical injures. He was rescued by his companions but died on the way to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.
