It is always fun to play an in-state opponent, and for much of the last decade, Purdue has dominated in-state games not played in the Crossroads Classic. We’ll get to that game next week of course, but this week we get the Mighty Trees of Indiana State.
Hey, it beats having to play football today.

Promoter compiling history of rock in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – When Steve Sybesma launched the Indiana Rock History website and Facebook group this summer, he was more than a music fan compiling decades of concerts in a database.
Sybesma played a large role in thousands of shows that happened in Indiana, thanks to his time as co-owner of concert company Sunshine Promotions from 1974 to 2000.

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) A new campaign is kicking off in Speedway on Saturday, to make up for lost time and money. The event is the first-ever “12 Days of Speedway.”
Several businesses are working together to encourage people to shop and eat local. The best part? Every business participating is offering some kind of perk.
Dawson’s on Main created a special menu and featured drink, as well as a gift card promotion.
“It’s an incentive of $5 for $25 so if you spend $25 you’re getting $5 if you spend $50 you’re getting $10,” explained employee Donna Cozad.
Like many other businesses in town, Cozad said Dawson’s on Main is still trying to make up for lost revenue from changes to the Indy 500 this year as well as the overall drop due to the pandemic.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Even though the Marion County Health Department has told schools it’s safe for students to return to the classrooms in early January, I-Team 8 is told high school students may be on a hybrid schedule after the winter break.
Dr. Virginia Caine, director of the Marion County Public Health Department, held a virtual meeting with the leadership from several Marion County schools Friday morning. One of those leaders was Paul Kaiser, the superintendent of Beech Grove City Schools.
“We know we will be on a hybrid schedule when we come back at the secondary level,” said Kaiser. “Dr. Caine told us that this morning in a meeting.”
