Newberry Elementary closed Friday due to COVID-19 Newberry Elementary School is closed today after recording two recent COVID-19 cases. Two cases within 14 days is enough to warrant a three-day closure at a small school, according to state guidance. The school should reopen for students on Monday, according to West Shore School District officials. The West Shore School District has recorded 11 cases across the district within the past 14 days, including the Newberry cases, according to its dashboard. The remaining nine cases are spread across the district s 13 other schools, and none have enough cases to reach another closure.

Central York Middle School closed for one week following surge of COVID-19 cases

York Dispatch Central York School District announced Tuesday that its middle school is closed for one week following a surge of COVID-19 cases. The school is closed Tuesday through Monday and will reopen next Tuesday, March 16, according an announcement on the district s website. Students will be taught under a fully remote model during the closure. At Monday night s school board meeting, a district official said Central York recorded eight COVID-19 cases across two buildings that day. That doubled the total number of cases recorded across the district and marked the most significant surge of COVID-19 cases the district has recorded in a single day.

Schools in Spring Grove, Northern York County closed Monday due to COVID-19 York Dispatch Three Spring Grove Area School District buildings and one Northern York County School District building were closed Monday due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases.  Spring Grove Area High School, Spring Grove Elementary and Paradise Elementary are closed after recording 14 COVID-19 cases across the three buildings in the last 14 days as of Friday afternoon, according to Spring Grove s website. South Mountain Elementary in Northern York County also closed after recording three cases in the last 14 days, according to a district communication Friday.  All four schools will reopen Tuesday, as the weekend counted as two days toward the three-day closure mandated by state guidelines. All other schools in both districts remain open for in-person instruction.
