PARMA, Ohio More than 30 years after the private, man-made Hollenbeck Lake last underwent repairs, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has notified three property owners that its Class 1 dam needs work.
“The owners are required to submit an emergency action plan and also make improvements to the dam itself to ensure the safety of residents in case of a dam breach,” Ward 5 City Councilman Allan Divis said.
“If the owners cannot come to an agreement, it’s my understanding the lake may have to be drained and the residents would lose the lake,” he said.

MACEDONIA – At its first meeting of 2021 on Jan. 14, City Council ratified a three-year bargaining agreement with the International Association of Firefighters Local 3947 and approved a revised sign ordinance.
The firefighters contract covers the years 2020, 2021 and 2022, and provides for 2 percent salary hikes each year. One new section states fire personnel may not work more than 48 consecutive hours unless there is an ongoing emergency scene or with the fire chief’s approval.
Another new section states fire personnel who are mandated to work overtime on a designated holiday shall be compensated at two times the normal pay rate, and any mandated overtime work on a non-holiday shall receive 1.5 times the normal rate.
With the resignation of a Geauga County Department of Water Resourcesâ operator, the McFarland Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is no longer in state compliance, department Director Steve Oluic informed commissioners last week.
The Geauga Commissioners approved the resignation of the class three McFarland plant operator during the Jan. 5 meeting. Dr. Oluic told the commissioners that this is the second and final class three plant operator heâs lost, and with no class three operators, the McFarland plant is officially out of compliance under Ohio Environmental Protection Agency regulations until they can find a replacement for the position.
âThey both left for pay reasons,â Dr. Oluic said, explaining the first person to resign moved to a North Royalton plant where he would make an additional $9 per hour compared to Geauga and the second operator to resign moved to a Bedford Heights plant to make an additional $3 per hour.

The USA has been one of the worst hit countries by the coronavirus pandemic globally, which has inevitably affected construction activity with delays in projects and downtime. In addition, the sector faced the uncertainty that accompanies a presidential election.
However, in a market this big, the demand for crane lifts never stops. Over the past year, there have been numerous projects some more challenging than others that required the help of mobile cranes of various types and capacities.

Built in 1906, the bridge over Buffalo Creek is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was damaged in a traffic accident.
