The process went smoothly, according to Mimi Collins, CEO of Longstreet Clinic. Patients that have been registered for an appointment checked in at the front desk, filled out paperwork and then made their way to the pharmacy, where blue curtains formed small rooms for patients to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Urvashi Patel, age 70, received the vaccine and said she felt much better and could not wait to receive the second dose.

NGHS to hold COVID-19 vaccine events for Georgians 65 a

UPDATE: According to the NGHS appointment scheduled, the appointments for the first round of clinics have been filled.  Northeast Georgia Health System has announced northeast Georgians who are 65 or older can now schedule an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at one of several vaccine events in January. According to a press release from the Health System, seven COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic events are planned through the end of January, with follow-up events where participants will receive their second dose of the vaccine. “We are offering as many appointments as possible with the vaccine supply and staffing resources we have available,” said Bobby Norris, vice president of operations for Northeast Georgia Physicians Group in a prepared statement. “We will add more appointments – at more locations – as soon as we can. In the meantime, we appreciate everyone’s patience.”

The Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville received a shipment Thursday morning. During the evening, the Northeast Georgia Health System said seven frontline workers were vaccinated. “It feels like Christmas came early,” said Carol Burrell, NGHS president and CEO. “It’s been a long eight months for our organization and our community, as we continue to see record numbers of COVID patients. We still have a long journey ahead of us, but simply having a vaccine in our hands is a tremendous and positive step forward.”
