2021 North American International Auto Show canceled due to pandemic New event announced called Motor Bella to take place in Pontiac Updated:  Tags:  DETROIT – On Monday, the North American International Auto Show announced it will not hold the annual event in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2020, NAIAS also canceled the event as a result of the pandemic. The show was canceled last year after it was announced that Detroit’s TCF Center would become a temporary hospital for COVID patients. All-outside event in Pontiac will take place of NAIAS this year

Organizers of the NAIAS decided in 2019 to move it to the summer, with the inaugural summer show to be held in June of 2020.  Then, the pandemic hit, and the June date for the show was postponed, and then postponed again.  Now, the show will not happen in 2021 at all, at least not in its traditional setting of Detroit s TCF Center, formerly known as Cobo Center.  Organizers instead will expand a September European supercar event called Motor Bella that had been planned to run concurrently with the auto show.

Having been shifted several times, the North American International Auto Show will not be taking place in September after all, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association says.
