Last year was the first without the Exhibition in Saskatoon since 1885. Prairieland Park is putting plans in place to bring the benchmark event back this summer.
A modified Saskatoon Exhibition is being planned for the first two weeks of August, according to Prairieland Park in a news release.
Should it come together, it is expected the event will include traditional rides on the midway, concessions and performances at the grandstand though with thousands fewer people on the fairgrounds per day.
Whether or not the plan comes to fruition depends largely on two factors: North American Midway Entertainment being granted access to Canada and establishing routing through the country, and COVID-19 protocols and health regulations implemented by the province.

Premier Jason Kenney expects pancake breakfasts, midway entertainment and rodeo competitions to return during the Calgary Stampede this summer under the province’s new reopening plan.
On Wednesday, the government unveiled an ambitious three-part strategy to fully open Alberta by July, if 70 per cent of those eligible to be inoculated receive their first COVID-19 shot. Kenney said the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth can “proceed at that point with full participation.”

“The bottom line is this Conklin (North American Midway Entertainment) is coming, as I understand it, for the midway. Cowboys are coming for the rodeo and I’m sure the Young Canadians and all the local performers are geared up,” said Kenney.
