New Mexico forward Wille makes NCAA commitment

May 13, 2021 The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Jackson Wille has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN. In two seasons in the NAHL with the Ice Wolves, the Forest Lake, MN native Wille, 20, has played 92 games during the 2020-21 and 2019-20 seasons. The 5’10/200 lbs. forward has scored 15 points (10 goals, 5 assists) during his time in New Mexico and is excited to make the move back to Minnesota to attend and play for Hamline University starting next hockey season. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity to continue my hockey career for Hamline University and want to thank my parents, teammates, coaches and the New Mexico Ice Wolves organization,” Wille said. “Coach Phil Fox and the entire coaching staff have helped develop my game and guide me to the next level. I’m looking forward to finishing our season strong with just three more games.”

The present and the future of the Nordiques played a part in a 3-2 overtime win at The Colisee in a North American Hockey League contest. Cannon Green, a two-year forward playing in his final year of junior hockey, scored the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in overtime as he slid the puck past Danbury goalie Josh Seeley after receiving a pass from linemate Stefan Owens.

Isaiah Fox celebrated his 100th career game in the North American Hockey League game in style. The Maine Nordiques’ 20-year-old forward scored and added an assist in a 5-1 victory over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks at The Colisee in Lewiston. “Isaiah continues to be a leader for us, on and off the ice,” Nordiques coach Nolan Howe said. “He done a great job this year, he has come a long way from his rookie season last year. We are looking forward to him staying hot as we head to the playoffs.” Stefan Owens also finished with a goal and an assist for the Nordiques.

After losing to Mount Saint Charles Academy 3-1 in the New England District Championship 18U championship final on April 11, some players thought the season was over. Skerlick, though, told them they still have more games to play. Skerlick’s gut feeling came to fruition April 16 when the 18U team received an at-large bid into the USA Hockey Tier I 18U National Tournament, which are taking place in Maryland Heights, Missouri, from April 28-May 3.
