Grieving a lost loved one is hard enough on its own, but doing so in the public eye brings other challenges.
Viewers throughout Berkshire County and beyond watched a nationally televised ceremony Tuesday for William âBillyâ Evans, a U.S. Capitol Police officer and North Adams native who died April 2, after an attacker drove a car into Evans and another officer.
President Joe Biden eulogized Evans, with many other high-profile officials in attendance alongside Evansâ family. Online, several people remarked on the ceremony.

“North Adams truly needs broad, transparent leadership,” he said. “That reflects who we are as a community, where we have been and where we need to go together, against the backdrop of tight finances.”
North Adams Mayor Tom Bernard announced today he will not seek re-election. Elected Mayor in November of 2017 he started his first of two terms in January
