Holland joins First State Bank board

  MENDOTA First State Bank announced the appointment of John Holland III to its Board of Directors.  Holland will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Matt Carroll and will serve the remainder of his term. “We are pleased to welcome John to our Board of Directors,” said Tim McConville, President/CEO of First State Bank. ”We look forward to working with him as we shape the future of First State Bank.” John is the Corporate Controller for HCC, Inc. in Mendota. He is an Air Force and National Guard Veteran and a 2001 cum laude graduate of Northern Illinois University with a double major in accounting and management. After holding several accounting positions in various industries in the suburbs, John was hired at his current position at HCC in 2014. An active member of the Mendota community, John is a current Mendota City Council Alderman, treasurer for the Mendota Golf Club, and coach for the Holy Cross School Bowling and Golf teams. In a decade that has seen startling discoveries in climate science (none positive), unprecedented fires, and increasingly frequent and far more destructive tropical storms and hurricanes, the evidence is clearer than ever that our economic plunder of the planet’s natural bounty has gone too far. Add to that the emergence of a deadly worldwide pandemic with devastating economic consequences, and the question does seem to answer itself.

Rosecrance CEO Phil Eaton reflects as retirement looms

ROCKFORD  Rosecrance Health Network President and CEO Phil Eaton is entering the final days of a 50-year career that started when he walked in the door as a newly hired social worker. “It’s bittersweet. I’ve spent 50 years working with wonderful staff and caring board members and clients who inspire me every day,” said Eaton, who holds a bachelor s degree from Trinity International University in Deerfield and a master s degree in community mental health from Northern Illinois University. After he retires Jan. 5, Eaton, said, he looks forward to spending more time with his wife, Cherri, and adult son, Chris. He ll also have room on his schedule for recreation.
