NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah â A man suspected of assaulting a North Salt Lake mail carrier in March has been arrested in New Mexico.
A joint investigation between North Salt Lake Police and federal postal inspectors resulted in the arrest of 31-year-old Akuso Amituanai.
According to police, the assault was a case of road rage. Detectives said Amituanai became angry because he believed the mail carrier had cut him off in traffic.
A North Salt Lake man who allegedly forced a suicidal woman to have sex has been linked to the crime by lab tests, say the Centerville police, according to a report by the Standard Examiner.

SALT LAKE CITY â Utah lawmakers were briefed Tuesday on the soaring number of catalytic converter thefts in the state.
Members of the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee plan to look at solutions as reports of thefts rose nearly 600 percent in two years.
âThe problem itself is absolutely statewide,â Christopher Walden of the Utah Attorney Generalâs Office told the committee.
The skyrocketing thefts are causing another rush: the need for replacement parts.
âI would probably say [we get] ten calls a day on stolen converters,â said Scott Taylor.
