New CAFRE beef and sheep adviser for Coleraine area
Faith Stewart, from Ballymoney in Co Antrim, has been appointed as a CAFRE beef and sheep adviser for farmers across the North Antrim and Londonderry regions.

An Agricultural Technologist graduate from SAC Edinburgh, she has a strong interest in agriculture and in particular the livestock sector.
As part of her degree studies she spent time working on a beef and sheep farm in Aberdeen, Scotland and also on various dairy farms in Northern Ireland.
Faith will be working closely with farmers engaged in CAFRE Business Development Groups to look at opportunities to adopt new technologies and skills required to develop their farms in the current challenging situation.

Mid Ulster District Council’s Planning Committee has given the green light to the remaining phase of the £1M scheme to enhance leisure facilities at Maghera Leisure Centre, with proposed floodlighting at the site’s new 3G pitch now approved.
The scheme is part of an overall £5.2M investment in leisure and outdoor recreation facilities across the district by the Council.
Work continues at the site to complete the underlying ground works for the new 3G pitch before the specialist surface is laid.

Approximately 160 Higher and 370 Wider offers will be issued as part of the fourth tranche of the Environmental Farming Scheme (EFS).
The Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Edwin Poots explained it would see the department commit to a spend of around £8 million for the scheme.
Agreements will continue to issue into January 2021 for the scheme which supports farmers to undertake measures to help climate change mitigation, support biodiversity and improve water quality through a range of options.
Making the announcement, Minister Poots said: “The EFS represents a long-term investment in our environment and I thank those farmers who are stepping up to undertake this important environmental work.
