191 of Saturday s cases are in Dublin, 54 are in Cork, 44 are in Donegal, 32 are in Wexford, 27 are in Kilkenny, and the remaining 179 cases are spread across 20 other counties.
As of 2pm today, 207 Covid patients are hospitalised across the country, of which 28 are in the ICU. 12 additional hospitalisations have occurred in the past 24 hours.

HEALTH OFFICIALS IN Northern Ireland have confirmed a further 640 cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases in the North to 61,437.
In its latest update, Northern Ireland’s Department of Health confirmed that seventeen more people have died with Covid-19.
Thirteen of the seventeen deaths occurred in the 24 hour reporting period between yesterday and today, with four occurred outside the last 24 hours.

Speaking on Wednesday, Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan said: We are seeing significant and concerning indicators that this disease in moving in the wrong direction, including an increase in positivity rates, and 7 day and 14 day incidence, and our 5 day average has now increased to 339 cases. Recent international experience has demonstrated just how quickly this disease can get out of control. These trends are all the more troubling because of the delicate and precarious situation we are in - as a country, we are heading into a period of potential widespread inter-household and inter-generational mixing.

The Northern Ireland Department of Health has proposed introducing an opt-out system for organ donation, where a person is presumed to have consented to donate their organs after death unless they have specifically opted out. Northern Ireland Humanists has welcomed the move, and has called on the public to support the plans.
Moving to an opt-out, rather than opt-in, system of organ donation has been shown to increase the number of organs available for transplant and willingness of the population to donate, saving lives. Northern Ireland is currently the only part of the UK that does not operate under this system or is in the process of introducing it.
