The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs says (DCA) the money comes from the federal Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and they received more than 550 requests for over $36 million in funding. “The Iowa Arts and Culture Recovery Program stabilizes a vital part of Iowa’s economy by helping our arts and cultural sector build a much-needed funding bridge for a stronger recovery,” says Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs Director Chris Kramer. “We are so grateful to Governor Reynolds for her steadfast support of Iowa’s creative and cultural workforce. Louisa Montealvo of Clear Lake, graduated from NIACC with an associate’s degree in 2010 and the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cinema, with distinction in 2012. Montealvo is an admissions counselor with Waldorf University in Forest City. She is a member of the Mason City Chamber of Commerce Program Committee, a member of Francis Lauer’s Gala Planning Committee, and a member of the Main Street Mason City’s Promotions Committee. Chad Nelson of Northwood, graduated from NIACC in 1979 and Iowa State University in 1999 with a degree in Agribusiness. Nelson is the president of Farmers State Bank, Northwood and also farms. coloffmediaDecember 18, 2020Last Updated: December 18, 2020 William “Bill” Alan Wolfe, 67, of Charles City, Iowa, died of complications due to the COVID-19 virus on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa with his two youngest daughters, Amy and Olivia, by his side. Bill was the first born to Roger and Elaine (Doughten) Wolfe, on the base of Fort Benning, Georgia on September 22, 1953.  The family moved often due to Roger’s military service in the Air Force.  Bill graduated from high school at Farmington, Illinois.  After graduation Bill worked for nearly four decades at Salsbury Laboratories and its later affiliates in Charles City, Iowa, until his retirement in 2012.  He later went back to school and got a degree in graphic design at North Iowa Area Community College.  Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks Lodge No. 418.
