Lana Jean Coventry
BANGOR, Maine – Lana Jean Coventry was reunited with her husband, Roger Paul Coventry, and the Lord Father in heaven on Dec. 15, 2020, when she passed away at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, after a long illness.
Mrs. Coventry was born in Island Falls, Maine, on Sept. 25, 1951, the daughter of the late Frederick and Betsy Humphrey. Her fondest memories were spent crafting, volunteering on various church committees, riding on the back of motorcycles, line dancing, playing cards with friends, and spending time with her daughter and granddogs on the Maine coast.
Mrs. Coventry lived her life guided by an unyielding faith. She will be remembered most for her fiery spirit, witty sense of humor, gift for gab that helped her make friends wherever she went, fierce loyalty to friends and family, and her charitable heart that was always willing to help another.

The second vaccine in the U.S. arsenal to fight the coronavirus arrived in Maine Monday morning, bringing 600 additional doses to the state for frontline health care workers. Sixty vials of the Moderna vaccine, which was approved Friday by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use authorization, were delivered to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Three hundred fifty-nine people have died with COVID-19 since the pandemic began in Maine. The person reported Sunday to have died was a Hancock County man in his 60s, the Maine CDC said.
The state’s seven-day average of new daily cases reached 531.4 on Sunday, and hospitalizations rose to 190 across the state. Meanwhile, Maine has given 32,995 people at least the first dose of a vaccine against COVID-19.
Maine has been one of the fastest states – in proportion to population – to distribute its allocation of COVID-19 vaccines, according to data maintained by Bloomberg News. But some older Mainers are asking for clearer communication from state officials and vaccine providers about when it will be their turn to be immunized.

Five people were taken to hospitals Friday after a single-vehicle crash on Meadow Brook Road in New Portland. The crash occurred when a 2016 Lexus sport utility vehicle went out of control after the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel, according to police. The Lexus left the road and struck trees on the left side of the road, also known as Route 16.

Five people were taken to hospitals Friday after a single-vehicle crash on Meadow Brook Road in New Portland that appeared to be caused by excessive speed and driver inattention.
Two of the passengers were taken to a Lewiston hospital by two LifeFlight helicopters that landed at the New Portland Fire Station, according to Michael Mitchell, chief deputy of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Some of the first babies born in 2021 arrived at Maine hospitals on New Year’s Day.

At Maine Medical Center in Portland, the Reiche family welcomed Winnie, a girl, who was born at 1:58 a.m. Friday. The first child of Sarah and George Reiche of Portland, she weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce, and measured 19 1/4 inches in length.
Sarah Reiche, who is a nurse in Maine Med’s neonatal intensive care unit, said the family is “so happy to welcome our new baby girl into 2021.”
A Sidney couple welcomed Augusta’s first baby less than an hour into the new year.
