Pro bono task force fighting for tenants
Even before COVID-19 hit, housing prices in Charlotte had been on the rise for years and wages, particularly those of low-income individuals, had failed to keep pace. The economic fallout caused by the pandemic has only made the situation more dire for many families.
Managing the thousands of eviction petitions signed in Mecklenburg County every year is thus quite a challenge for Legal Aid of North Carolina-Charlotte and the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy. So in response, Charlotte Triage Task Force, a collaborative pro bono effort spearheaded by McGuireWoods in 2018, has stepped up to assist in providing legal representation to people who have been evicted.

This week on the WUKY SportsPage it s part one of Keith s conversation with UK Sports Network colleague Mike Pratt. Mike is a member of the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame. He was a basketball All-American in 1970, and a two-time All-SEC first team selection. He was part of a great run of success at Kentucky, including three SEC championships and two Elite Eight appearances. Mike played professionally for the Kentucky Colonels of the American Basketball Association. He later was an assistant coach under Lee Rose at North Carolina-Charlotte, and was in that position when UNCC made a Final Four run in 1977. He served as the head coach at UNCC for four years. He’s coached and scouted in the NBA, and had a long career in television and radio broadcasting. He has been the color analyst on radio for UK basketball since 2002.
FC Dallas acquires Minnesota’s 2022 MLS SuperDraft Fourth Round pick
FRISCO, Texas (Dec. 13, 2020) – FC Dallas has traded defender Callum Montgomery to Minnesota United FC in MLS Half-Day Trade Window in exchange for Minnesota’s fourth round 2022 MLS SuperDraft pick, the club announced today.
Additionally, FC Dallas could receive up to $50,000 in General Allocation Money if Montgomery meets certain performance metrics while with Minnesota United.
Montgomery, 23, was selected No. 4 overall by FC Dallas in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. He spent the 2020 season on loan with USL Championship side San Antonio FC, where he started in nine matches and scored two goals in 808 minutes.
