Orange County deputies looking for third suspect after chase on I-40

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) A call to report car break-ins escalated into a chase on Interstate 40 on Friday morning. Orange County deputies were parked on the side of I-40 near Cedar Ridge High School after three people led them on a chase that ended on the highway near the Hillsborough exit. Mebane police responded to an apartment complex after hearing about cars being broken into in the parking lot. Police tried to pull over a driver that had just left the complex, but they didn t stop and a chase ensued. Three people jumped out of a car on I-40 close to Cedar Ridge High School and ran into the woods.

Couple Married For 61 Years Dies While Holding Hands

Sherwood Lee Pope, 82, and Doris Knox Pope, 78, had been married for 61 years and lived in Coats. Though they were both sick with COVID-19, they were together through the end, passing away while still holding hands. Shelton Pope, one of the couple s three sons, said his parents, who both had previous medical conditions, started getting sick after Thanksgiving. Mom didn t really want to go to the hospital, said Shelton. [She] figured she could do it on her own. They eventually did go to UNC Rex Hospital, where they stayed for a week before passing away. Sherwood and Doris were originally split up in separate rooms. As they became more ill, however, the hospital allowed them to share a room.

(WBTV) - A woman’s commute to work wasn’t going to be slowed down by the Highway Patrol and Rowan County patrol cars that were pursuing her, according to a report at the Rowan Sheriff’s Office. Keyanna Elizabeth Echols, 19, of Randleman, was driving on I-85 in Rowan County on Monday afternoon heading to the Federal Express facility in Concord. A trooper with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol saw that Echols was speeding, and began to follow the 2019 Dodge Challenger that Echols was driving.
