Raleigh, NC (WorkersCompensation.com) - Governor Roy Cooper has appointed Wanda Blanche Taylor and Adrian A. Phillips to serve as Commissioners on the North Carolina Industrial Commission for six-year terms, subject to confirmation by the North Carolina General Assembly.
Taylor is a native of Plymouth, North Carolina. She is a Fellow of the College of Workers Compensation Lawyers and received her Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law and her undergraduate degree at Duke University. Currently, Taylor is the Director of Litigation/Counsel at Key Risk Insurance (a Berkley Company), and she also serves as a member of the North Carolina Board of Certified Public Accountant Examiners. Previously, Taylor served as a Deputy Commissioner at the Industrial Commission for twenty years, including as Chief Deputy Commissioner. She has also represented both employees and employers/insurers in private practice.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Stephen L. Hayes Jr. is an artist who takes on everything he can explore. He sculpts, blacksmiths, welds, makes prints and drawings, carves and even weaves.
The Durham-based artist known for a focus on social justice and incorporating historical context said he tries âjust about anything I get my hands on.â
âI love trying to give things new meaning. I donât have a preferred medium,â said Hayes, whose work will be on display at Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art in Charlotte from March 5-April 24 in an exhibit titled âBeyond Any Means.â

Bobbie Richardson, a retired educator and former state legislator, was elected Saturday to lead the North Carolina Democratic Party the first time a Black woman has held the title of Democratic state chair.
She replaces former party chair Wayne Goodwin, who held the post for four years.
“Serving this state and our party over the last four years has been one of my life’s greatest honors, but I know that North Carolina Democrats are in good hands with Bobbie,” Goodwin said in a statement.
