An armed suspect is still at large following a robbery on the city’s east side Sunday afternoon, police said.
Colorado Springs police responded to reports of a robbery in progress just before 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Academy Boulevard, officials said. Gazette news partner KKTV reported the robbery occurred at a 7-Eleven convenience store, where police said the suspect brandished a weapon and threatened a clerk at gunpoint before taking an undisclosed amount of cash and other merchandise.
The suspect is a white or Hispanic male waring a black jacket, white pants, dark gloves, white shoes and a white bandana mask, police said. It was unclear if the suspect fled the scene on foot or by vehicle.
A mother of a Colorado Springs woman was stabbed 16 times, her arm becoming nearly severed, before she died while trying to protect her daughter from her estranged husband in her townhome in the northeast side of the city, police testified Friday in 4th Judicial District Court.
Timothy Ray Scott, Jr., 28, faces two counts of first-degree murder after deliberation in the death of his mother-in-law Tamara Dunn and her daughter, Ann Jolynne Page Scott, 29, who was fatally shot in her home in March 2020.

Driver arrested after DUI crash shuts down Colorado Springs intersection
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - One person is in custody after a crash shutdown the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and Galley Road in Colorado Springs late Sunday night.
Colorado Springs police were called to the intersection just after 9 p.m. Sunday for reports of a two vehicle crash.
The passenger in one of the cars suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The driver of that car was arrested for driving under the influence and other charges related to the crash.
Construction is ongoing at the wastewater treatment plant for the Cherokee Metropolitan District. The district, which serves Cimarron Hills and Schriever Air Force Base, had to prioritize between updating its 17-mile water main built in the 1960s and a new $43 wastewater treatment plant to meet new state regulations, said Amy Lathen, general manager of the district.
