Police closed the B9077 near the B979 in both directions and motorists were advised to avoid the area. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews received a call at 8.58am about a collision near Kirkton of Durris. They made the scene safe and are no longer in attendance. A police spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of a two-vehicle crash on the B9077 near Kirkton of Durris around 8.55am on Friday, May 7.

Community policing officer constable Jamie Dey met concerned locals at Oakwood and Mayne farm where youths have gathered in recent weeks. Constable Dey heard concerns relating to fires being started in the area, as well as the misuse of drugs and alcohol.

Some residents of an Aberdeenshire town may not know they have been a victim of theft, as police say a number of recovered stolen items have not yet been claimed. In the early hours of this morning, several cars and outbuildings in the Ellon area were targeted by a thief. Officers say they have recovered “various items and suspected stolen property”, but some of them have not been claimed by the public.
