Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision in Annfield Plain, near Stanley, on Tuesday. A Durham Police spokesperson said: A motorcycle, a KTM off-road motorbike, was being driven along West Road at 5.10pm on the evening of Tuesday, December 15 when it was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf, which was turning into Hamsterley Gardens. A man in his mid-20s was thrown from the motorcycle and was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham for treatment to a fractured pelvis, fractured wrist and elbow and fractured vertebrae. The driver of the car, a man in his early 40s, was uninjured.
