Stricken people brought to safety by coastal rescue service

COASTAL life brigade volunteers have been kept busy as members of the public flocked to the seaside to enjoy the continuing spring sunshine. Members of Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB) were called out twice in two days to support Northumbria Police at incidents in North Shields and Whitley Bay. Both incidents were said to feature “multi-agency” involvement working to bring casualties to places of safety where they could receive additional support and care. The first was late on Thursday, when the Coastguard requested the Tynemouth Lifeboat and the brigade to assist with a police incident. Eleven brigade members attended the call and were on scene for 70 minutes before the incident was brought to a safe conclusion, along with ambulance and fire services.
