ALMOST a dozen new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust over the weekend, the latest official figures show. NHS England figures show 463 people had died in hospital at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm on Sunday (January 24). That was an increase of 11 compared to Friday, when there were 452. It means there have been 31 deaths in the past week, up from 19 the previous week. Five new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust over the weekend, the latest official figures show. Mike Schofield, consultant in emergency medicine and paediatric emergency medicine, said: âItâs easy to say that the new department will make a massive difference to children and the care we are able to provide.
âThe new department is much bigger; it has a large waiting area that will be able to accommodate far more people than before.
“There is more space, more treatment rooms, better privacy provision, better isolation facilities, a dedicated safe space, a dedicated triage area for nursing staff and the capabilities of providing high dependency unit level care if required.
âI think the new area is a space that we can all be proud of and I canât wait for it to become operational.â
