Panaji (Goa) [India], April 30 (ANI): In view of the prevailing pandemic situation, examination Hall of Goa Medical College has been converted into a COVID-19 ward and it will have another 150 beds to the overall facility.
In a tweet, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said: Examination Hall of Goa Medical College has been converted into #COVID19 ward, that will add another 150 beds to the overall facility.
Sawant and State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today inspected the facility, which will take shape in a record period of time.

The hospital, located in Mapusa town, about 9km from Panaji, was till now not serving as a COVID-19 facility. Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday said they are planning to convert the North Goa district Hospital into a notified COVID-19 facility in the wake a spike in coronavirus cases in the coastal State.

“To ensure we are equipped in view of the rising cases, we are planning to convert the North Goa district hospital as a notified Covid-19 hospital in phases with additional number of beds and oxygen supply,” Mr. Rane tweeted.

Panaji (Goa) [India], January 2 (ANI): Goa has one of the highest per capita COVID-19 testing and it is working towards increasing RT-PCR testing capacity to 3.5k per day, said State Health Minister Vishwajit P Rane on Saturday.
Speaking at the Expert Committee meeting held in Panaji, Rane said, The state of Goa has one of the highest per capita testing. We are working towards increasing RT-PCR testing capacity to 3.5k per day. Both North Goa District Hospital (NGDH) and South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) will have RT-PCR machines, the purchase committee will be taking a decision to procure the RT-PCR machines with open ended platform for kits so that the variable cost of kits can be reduced.
