The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County is in the beginning stages of assessing usage potential for the Santa Rita Ranch along Highway 46.
The Ranch sits in Northern San Luis Obispo County between Paso Robles and Cambria. It’s more than 1,700 acres and is home to a number of wildlife species like deer, turkeys, mountain lions and even black bears.
The Ranch also holds a lake reservoir surrounded by oak, bay laurel, sycamore and maple trees.
The conservancy acquired the property in December of 2020 for $8 million dollars after decades of private ownership. Almost half of that money came from the State Wildlife Conservation Board to help get the land and permanently protect water rights associated with the lake on the property.
Inland areas bracing for another weekend heat wave
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - We are seeing temperatures rise from the beaches to the valleys as we head into the end of the week. Inland areas are bracing for the strongest heat. Overnight lows will be in the 50s. Tonight we are expecting some low clouds for the coast once again, but perhaps better clearing into Friday morning.
On Friday, heat advisories and excessive heat warnings begin to take hold for many inland and mountain areas. Temperatures around 110 degrees are expected throughout the weekend. Coastal highs will range from the mid-70s into the 80s. Winds will pick up in Northern San Luis Obispo County on Friday afternoon.

We are at a major, major accomplishment here, Representative Salud Carbajal told the NewsChannel in a Zoom interview. We ve been working on this for years now.
At 399 square miles, it s the largest proposed floating offshore wind project in the United States. Carbajal says it will be able to produce three Giga Watts of electricity, enough to power about a million homes.
