$15m project to establish whole-body imaging in Australian first
A project driven by Sydney should provide unique imaging capability to Australia while revolutionising patient care, through a joint venture with Northern Sydney Local Health District to procure a total body PET/CT scanner.
The ability to image all the tissues and organs of the human body in a quick, single scan, is one step closer in Australia with its first Total Body Positron Emission Tomography (TB-PET) scanner to be established as a joint venture between the University of Sydney and Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) at the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH).

The state government is considering a proposal to move Ryde Hospital to Macquarie University s campus as part of the hospital s planned $479 million redevelopment.
Macquarie University has offered to provide the land for free if the government were to develop a new public hospital to replace the existing Eastwood facility.

The proposal is due to be discussed at a meeting of the Macquarie University Council on Thursday evening.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said completing the redevelopment on the Macquarie University site instead would add no extra cost to the project. This idea certainly elevates our plans for the delivery of 21st century, cutting-edge healthcare for patients, he said.
